Essential Install | Security
DID YOU KNOW : London Transport installed permanent cameras to aid with security on their rail network in 1961
PAC8 fits in to a standard electrical back box
Aperio ’ s lock technology has been integrated with Tyco Access Control
The PAC8 controller is configured by the installer to match the customer ’ s requirement for the doors around the building . Once the engineer has set the system up , the customer can take control of it on their own App .
According to Pro-Vision Distribution , despite its size , PAC8 retains 90 ° of the features found in comparable PCbased systems .
Using the App , which is available on Android and shortly to be released on iOS , the PAC8 controller is configured by the installer to match the customer ’ s requirement for the doors around the building .
Designed to be simple and fast , customers can add tokens to the access control system through the App in four simple steps : add the user ’ s name ; click on the doors the user is to be allowed access to ; scan the QR code on the token ; press save . Each QR code is unique to that token and can only be read by the PAC8 App . These High- Frequency ( HF ) tokens utilise PAC ’ s Ops technology and are AES-128bit certified , making each token ultra secure . Updates to the system can be transmitted to the controller via the App using Bluetooth when requested by the customer . It ’ s compatible with PAC ’ s GS3 High Frequency ( HF ) range of readers . Included with the PAC8 is cloud storage for database back up , which allows events to be viewed and exported .
The recently established technology partnership between ASSA ABLOY and Tyco Security Products , has resulted in the integration of Aperio wireless lock technology with the C • CURE 9000 security and event management system .
The integration enables Aperio wireless locks to communicate with C • CURE 9000 via iSTAR Ultra door controllers and by doing so provides the flexibility to expand an access control system to many different environments .
With no need for any additional wiring , Aperio locks can be easily added to an existing system with little or no operational disruption , as a link between iSTAR Ultra door controllers and an Aperio wireless hub enables Aperio locks to communicate directly with C • CURE 9000 .
C • CURE 9000 is updated in real-time , which both companies say guarantees a high level of control and visibility of door activity , whilst AES 128-bit encryption ensures data security .
Rafael Schrijvers , access control product marketing manager , EMEA at Tyco Security Products , says : “ This is a great example of two leading manufactures within the security sector , both expert in their respective fields , working closely together for the benefit of our mutual customers .
“ C • CURE 9000 and Aperio wireless locks are increasingly being specified to work together on a wide range of security projects . The deep level of integration achieved between the two technologies will ensure systems integrators will now find it much easier to implement a combined solution .”
In a separate development , Tyco Security Products has introduced EntraPass Go Pass support for Apple Watch , which allows card holders to use the watch as a mobile access control credential , enabling quick entry and exit through access points without an access card .
Once the application is downloaded to the phone paired with the watch , the Go PASS icon will appear on the watch indicating to the user that the App is now ready to be used on their Apple Watch . A list of the end user ’ s favourite doors will appear once the App is opened and the user can simply tap on the appropriate door to gain entry . All user activities are recorded on the EntraPass server for the system administrator .
Rajeev Dubey , senior product manager at Tyco Security Products , says : “ EntraPass Go Pass support for the Apple Watch takes efficiency and user experience to a new level by making credential use as simple as possible ,.
“ Instead of searching through their bags for a smart phone , card holders can push a button on their watch when they enter or exit a restricted area , which only takes a few seconds . The result is greater efficiency , speed and ease of access .”
Rajeev says that the system can help reduce the problem of lost cards and can be an ideal solution for visitors , temporary workers or high turnover populations where frequent card issuance can be an administrative burden . The App is available with traditional EntraPass Corporate or Global Editions , or as part of the Kantech hattrix hosted / managed security service .
Using EntraPass Go Pass with support for the Apple Watch , cardholders download the EntraPass Go Pass App to a mobile phone and then accept a credential invitation from the system administrator . Once the invitation is accepted , end users can then gain access to doors simply by pressing the appropriate icon of the door in the App on the phone or on the paired Apple Watch .
