The screens include the new 4K Processor X1 Extreme which the maker says was developed in order to provide the ultimate 4K HDR visual experience . This technology was created to improve clarity , colour accuracy and contrast of HD , 4K and 4K HDR videos . By incorporating three new technologies – object-based HDR remaster , dual database processing and Super Bit Mapping 4K HDR , the package is looking to bring 4K HDR content to a whole new level . Additionally , the new ZD9 series has adopted Backlight Master Drive , a precision backlight boosting technology which allows it to expand brightness and contrast even further in order to truly tap the full potential of 4K HDR . Sony says that Backlight Master Drive delivers unprecedented dynamic range with incredibly deep blacks and dazzling lights for scenes that look more real than ever before , unleashing the full potential of 4K HDR content . On demo at EI Live ! EI has to say that it was the realism and detail available on the panel that was one of the stand out features offered by the set .
These screens also feature X-tended Dynamic Range PRO to produce better contrast by precisely balancing the light output across the screen , by dimming some areas and boosting others . Sony says the set reveals a brightness range three times that of a conventional LED-backlight TV and it enhances any source to near HDR quality with a wider range of brightness . The TVs also feature vibrant , expanded colour with TRILUMINOS Display , to further enhance for colour accuracy .
Looks wise the set has been created to exude sophistication in the form of a simple black slate , allowing viewers to immerse themselves in the power of 4K HDR , without distraction . From the back , the design keeps all the cables completely concealed , ensuring that the device looks elegant from any angle . The 100in model is available with a floor stand and table-top stand , while the 75in and 65in screens come with a table-top stand .
The ZD9 series also runs on Android TV with Sony ’ s exclusive user interface . From live TV broadcasting to Internet video services , the new user interface Content bar includes enhanced content navigation along with voice search and allows users to easily browse content quickly and intuitively without disrupting viewing .
Joining the ZD9 in the AWE Sony stable , is the maker ’ s first foray into a consumer focussed OLED screen . The manufacturer says its BRAVIA A1 OLED Series represents one of the most exciting TV launches of the year , bringing together the best of Sony ’ s picture quality technology , including the 4K HDR processor X1 Extreme , which increases the visual appeal of 4K HDR content .
Sony argues that the visual experience is enriched with remarkable blacks , authentic colours and blur-less images to deliver unrivalled picture quality . The screen is also designed to produce impressive contrast and will suit even the most complicated install , thanks to its almost infinite viewing angles .
The A1 series is also equipped with Sony ’ s unique Acoustic Surface technology that ‘ excites ’ the display and enables sound to be emitted directly from the TV screen – a world ’ s first for a production TV model . Those with long memories will recall this type of approach being tried before back in the early days of NXT , the forerunner to the technologies that eventually gave birth to brands such as Amina , with its flat panel speaker design . Utilising Sony ’ s Acoustic Surface technology , Sony says the picture and sound become one , heightening the reality of the visuals . EI has to add here that , this type of approach really does add a new dimension , particularly with performance content such as live music and dialogue heavy content too . Well worth checking out .
This technology also contributes to the new ‘ One Slate ’ minimalist feel of the TV . By eliminating speakers placed around the screen , the A1 achieves a speakerless and stand-less form factor . The ‘ Sony ’ and ‘ Bravia ’ logos have been hidden and the small light located in the bottom of the screen , can be disabled to complete a distraction-free , sleek aesthetic .
Available in 55in , 65in and 77in models , the Sony BRAVIA A1 Series is available now via AWE . The A1 series and the Z series are available alongside and the X series , which features the XE93 , XE94 , XE90 and XE90 , completing the offering from AWE .
Additionally , AWE boasts an extensive range of OLED screens from other manufacturers including Loewe , Panasonic and LG , as well as the innovative QLED from Samsung .
