DID YOU KNOW : In 1876 , Pavel Yablochkov invented the Yablochkov candle , the first practical carbon arc lamp for public street lighting in Paris
The Vela Compact LED Downlight is available in both fixed and tilt options and comes in a choice finishes
The B . E . G . PureColour Wellness Sensor automatically adjusts its colour and light
SAVI says that for years its sister company , Majik House , has been designing and installing lighting control systems .
The company says : “ In this time , we ’ ve tried and tested hundreds of light fittings and identified the advantages and pitfalls of each one .
“ This research has been forged into a carefully designed and manufactured series of light fittings . A high quality finish and exceptional dimming capabilities were at the top of our priority list . As such , these compact fittings have been tried and tested with Rako , Lutron and Control 4 systems to ensure they dim smoothly and without any issues .”
GreenBrook Electrical says that the Vela Compact LED Downlight is ideal for small ceiling cavities .
The company says : “ A common problem in new build premises are small ceiling voids which can cause an issue when installing some downlights on offer in the market as there is not the space in the ceiling for the depth of the fittings and the cover required to put thermal insulation on top of them .”
GreenBrook has introduced the Vela Compact LED Downlight , a super low profile fitting that measures only 40mm high . It says the fittings have been tested by the Lighting Industry Association laboratories to have insulation laid directly over the fitting , allowing them to be used safely in the tightest of spaces .
Available in fixed and tilt options in both 3,000k and 4,000K , these easy to install fittings are offered in matt white , polished chrome and satin chrome finishes .
The matt white finish has been particularly well received in the market as it is the Rated IP65 and including a dimmable LED driver , these low
energy 7W fittings offer a 55 ° beam angle and a lumen output of 89lm / W .
Building automation specialist B . E . G . has launched an occupancy sensor which it says can improve the well-being and productivity of workers by controlling the room ’ s light intensity and light colour based on time and movement .
The B . E . G . PureColour Wellness Sensor gives contractors the opportunity to offer end users a product which automatically adjusts its colour and light according to the amount of natural light required at specific times of day .
This Human Centric Lighting ( HCL ) is designed specifically to mimic true daylight . It does this by regulating the colour temperature of all connected lighting and producing artificial white light which corresponds almost identically to daylight . This provides the occupants of the room with all of the brightness and vitality which natural light provides .
Research carried out in Norway and Germany has found that using Human Centric Lighting also helps to regulate the body clock , promotes sleep and improves overall health and well being , calling it a
‘ life-light-balance ’. Paul Jones , B . E . G ’ s sales director , says : “ B . E
. G . is the first lighting controls manufacturer to develop a wellness multi-sensor with a ‘ tuneable white function ’.
“ Over a 24-hour period , the colour temperature adjusts from warm white to daylight white and the illumination intensity from 500 to 1500 lux . The dimming of the individual lights is continuous and harmonious so that the change is not directly visible . This much improves the quality of the artificial light , mimicking the daylight and therefore improving well-being and health . Energy consumption is also optimised .”
