Crestron has
integrated Alexa
into its entire range
of home automation
solutions
Crestron connects with Alexa Voice Service allowing your
wish to become a command.
He says: “As the day begins simply ask Alexa to activate
‘morning theme’ for the blinds to slowly open, lights to go
up, with a warm shower running waiting for you to start
your day just right. With Crestron weaved into the fabric of
your home you can manage light, temperature, audio and
visual all at the touch of a button.
“Now, effortlessly connected with Amazon Alexa if you
want to set the mood for an intimate dinner, or pump
up the volume of your favourite song, you only have to
ask. It’s your home, responding to your voice. Your home
responding to your every need.”
Michael says: “Crestron has always been at the
forefront of home automation, for almost 50 years we
have been pioneering the industry and although voice
recognition is now in the mainstream eye, Crestron has
actually had the ability to control our systems with voice
for some time.
“Although not widely used this feature is something
we always knew was going to come and is something
we have been prepared for and very excited about. Our
involvement most recently though has been with our
partnership with Amazon, utilising the Alexa voice service
to talk to our entire range of home automation solutions
has been an incredible development and one that has
had many of our clients very excited.”
Phillip Pini, Crestron’s UK head of residential, says that
unlike many competitors, Crestron’s partnership with
Amazon was not just about simple skill commands such as
lights on and off.
He says: “Because Crestron designs, manufactures and
supports the full spectrum of home automation products
and solutions it meant that we had the ability to integrate
on another level with Alexa.
“In essence our clients are able to control full Crestron
scenes, one voice command therefore means total control
whether it’s telling the home it’s ‘Movie night’ and having
the lights dim, the shades close and your favourite movie
start up, or maybe it’s simply leaving the house and telling
Crestron ‘Goodbye’, your entire home shuts down and
your security settings fi re up.”
RTI, from Invision, says that Amazon Echo can be used
to switch on the lamp before getting out of bed, turn on
the fan or space heater while reading in a favourite chair,
or dim the lights from the sofa to watch a movie – all
without lifting a fi nger.
The company also points out that Amazon Echo can be
integrated into any whole home RTI control system.
Invision says: “Integrators can use the driver to control
any RTI XP system or connected device with hands free
voice control. Amazon Echo solves the need for custom
integrators seeking a reliable and affordable voice control
solution for their clients.
