Neil explains some other benefits : “ Working with Phase Technology allows us to benefit from an astonishing depth of technical and manufacturing expertise . This is most clearly displayed in their Digital Audio Reference Theater Systems or dARTS . More than 10 years ago the company worked with a little known start-up called Audyssey to create the world ’ s first room correction platform for home cinema and 2016 has just marked the release of the third generation of this technology .
“ Each dARTS speaker is handmade , right down to winding the voice coils in the soft dome tweeters , at their factory in Florida . As each complete speaker is finished it is extensively measured in the anechoic chamber and a detailed set of correction filters loaded into the DP4000 amplifier and DSP platform . This means that when a dARTS system is connected up it is very accurately balanced and delivers exceptional performance out of the box . The final stage is a simple set of Audyssey measurements which are used to match the system to the factory defined target curves . dARTS is almost unique in that the correction system has full knowledge of how the speaker should be corrected to get it to match the factory performance . The systems also represent incredible value for money . A fully active 7.2 dARTS system driven by the 16x250W DSP enabled DP4000 amplifier , starts from around £ 20,000 end-user .”
Genesis Technologies ’ chosen projector brand is Barco . Neil says : “ Barco supplies the world ’ s top professional cinemas and has resources and expertise to tap into that no other company has . Their research and development facilities are second to none and with its range of home projectors delivers advantages specific to the home market .
“ Offering native cinema scope compatibility means installers can deliver real cinema experiences and versatility without worrying about extra lenses and all the associated hassle and technical compromises . The brand produces a range of Digital Cinema Initiative ( DCI ) compliant machines to deliver real cinema into the home . We are also working with a service where clients can access releases at the same time as they come out at commercial cinemas .”
It has taken some time for 4K solutions based on DLP technology to arrive on the market , but Barco are primed to lead the way with the upcoming Loki and Wodan units leading their 4K push .

In the category of screens , Neil felt that none of the existing brands met his requirements , so created his own : “ We wanted to create a brand that was commercially interesting , had great performance and solved many of the weaknesses we saw in other brands .”
The result is a new brand , DT Screens , which offers three model ranges covering all types of fixed frame screen requirements using acoustic transparent surfaces . All DT Screens are bespoke built to the exact size and aspect ratio required and employ an easy pricing model based only on the required width of the screen . Every model also features a raft of innovations designed to make them easier to install and use .
High performance screen masking is a critical element in the cinema experience and DT Screens is aiming to be the reference brand in this category . “ We are very excited in particular about our Flexible Screen Masking Controller which lets us offer a level of system intelligence and accuracy no one else can match ,” says Neil .
