Ashaway Announces New Color for SuperNick®
ZX Micro Squash String: Bright Orange with a
Blue Spiral

Ashaway, RI – Following its successful launch of its SuperNick® ZX Micro squash string several
seasons ago, Ashaway has announced it will begin off ering the string in a new color: bright orange
with a blue spiral. SNZX Micro is an 18 gauge (1.15 mm) squash string with a multifi lament nylon
core wrapped in a special wear layer of Zyex® fi laments. Designed to provide precise touch while
maintaining excellent tension control, SuperNick ZX Micro is intended for players who require
superior durability, better control and increased power, but still want the feel of a multifi lament
nylon SuperNick string.
“You can’t argue with success,” said Ashaway’s Steve Crandall. “Once SNZX Micro players saw
the bright orange color of our sister SuperNick ZX string, we had no alternative. The message was
loud and clear: SNZX Micro players wanted orange, too! So here it is, and with a hot blue spiral!”
Zyex fi bers woven into jacket constructions enhance string playability according to Crandall. The
low dynamic stiff ness of Zyex fi bers allows strings to stretch and recover more completely than
other synthetic materials, thus generating more power with less impact shock. Combining a Zyex
wear layer with a multifi lament nylon core as in SuperNick ZX Micro, generates that soft feel and
precise touch that players have long associated with SuperNick strings.
Zyex can also be made to have exceptionally low creep under continuous tension, allowing
racquet strings to maintain tension and playability longer. Ashaway's trademarked Power Filament
Technology (PFT™) jackets on multifi lament nylon core strings add power, improve tension
holding, and increase string durability. A textured surface on the wear layer also increases grip and
maximizes ball control and spin potential.
Developed in response to player demand for a thinner gauge PFT based string, SuperNick ZX
Micro provides a more precise touch than its sister string, and being thinner, provides better
control and spin potential as well.
Bright orange in color with a blue spiral, SuperNick ZX Micro is available in 9-meter (30 foot) sets,
as well as 110-meter (360 foot) reels. Recommended stringing tension is up to 35 lbs. (16 kgs.).
