PRO-T-ONE
Final Testing and Fine Tuning
Here is our second report on the pro-t-one chromatic string tuner DGT.
TESTING - We have just been comparing it with the ERT300 at the Symposium. We tested
it during string testing and checked racquet stiff ness with it also. We were able to get the same
measurements each time.
We also used it for our certifi cation testing on Tuesday for the Pro Tour Stringer tests alongside
the ERT300. We wanted to see a comparison. The ERT300 had on one set of racquets a DT of
36 and the Chromatic String Tuner 35.1 and 35.2.
FINE TUNING - The frequency is what the device measures. A formula translates this back into
pounds and kilos and DT or RA for racquet striff ness.
You can use frequency which is more exact, but need to get used to it. You will get a
frequency number of something like 620Hz. You can measure afterwards smaller diff erences in
string tension when stringing multiple racquets and measuring smaller diff erences in string
tension loss.
If you want to fi ne tune the machine to get a more accurate measure, you can adjust it to take into
consideration variables such as the string material and construction, gauge diff erence, machine
and stringer techniques.
Make sure your machine is always calibrated.
Choose the correct string type from the list.
Check the gauge of the strings with an electronic digital caliper. Adjust this on the machine.
We found the machine works very accurately. We received a prototype and now Pro-t-one is
already making some upgrades on this before the fi rst release.
I think the machine is great with all that is does and is much more than just a simple string tension
measuring device.
