Sebastien Buemi headed a Toyota 1-2 throughout the first hour of the 6 Hours of Silverstone with never more than two and a half seconds separating him from the sister Toyota TS050 Hybrid of Mike Conway.

Brendon Hartley continued to hound the Toyota’s in the number 2 Porsche 919 Hybrid ahead of team mate Neel Jani in fourth, despite the Porsche running considerably less aero than the Japanese manufacturer. A rear roll-bar issue for the number 7 Toyota however enabled both

Porsches to split the TS050’s.

Intermittent rain fell throughout the afternoon, but did little to influence strategy, with most teams opting to save changing tyres until the latter stops. In GTE however, front left tyre graining appeared to be affecting the Ford’s in particular.

Nicolas Lapierre got the jump in LMP2 in the Alpine A470 Gibson, with Alex Lynn and Bruno Senna fighting out the remaining podium positions in the G-Drive Racing and Rebellion Racing Oreca 07 Gibsons.
