In the days leading up to the Monaco ePrix, there were several events to promote the launch of a new initiative called CONVERGENCE.

Convergence is a gathering of key decision makers in the race for a sustainable future, from all over the world.

“Monaco can be a global leader in showcasing viable business solutions to the environmental crisis,” says Shane Heminway, Managing Director of Convergence.

The first meeting is planned for May 2016 and is set to be an annual Monaco-based conference, integrating a FORUM, TRADE SHOW and a MARKETPLACE and is designed to help converge business profitability with environmental sustainability.

Each year the event will be presented during the week of the Formula E Championship Monaco ePrix, giving a strong business presence to the event’s important focus on clean energy and sustainability.

Roger Randall (Principal) adds, “CONVERGENCE is a business event which will measure its’ success in terms environmental impact. CONVERGENCE will accelerate the integration of business profitability and environmental sustainability. The global scope, innovation, and financial power of the global business enterprise holds the potential to lead us toward environmental sustainability before we reach a point of irreparable damage to the global eco system.”

On May 8th CONVERGENCE hosted a “cocktail dinatoire” in the Riva Tunnel for 150 government officials, business leaders, local investors and philanthropists. Notable attendees were HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, song writer and performer Julian Lennon of the White Feather Foundation and Monegasque Pierre Frolla, world champion free diver, educator, adventurer and environmentalist and Alex Tai, Virgin Racing FE Team Principal.

Presenting their technology were several pioneering brands such as Tesla, Venturi and EnergiaSBK, who are leading the way in the sustainability and technology areas. An extensive array of zero emission vehicles were on display in the Riva Tunnel in Port Hercule – these included a car from the Venturi Racing Team founded by Gildo Pastor and Leonardo DiCaprio, a Tesla full sized sedan, electric motorcycles and scooters from NL Mobility and an electric jet ski (JForce) were all on display at the event.

This year’s events are sponsored and supported by the following companies and organizations: Julius Bär, Monaco Asset Management, SSP, Monaco Boat Service Riva, Devenoge Champagne, A Roca Gourmet and Monaco Government Tourism and Convention authority.

Sponsors and supporters were then treated with race viewing and hospitality at the iconic La Rascasse, the premier location to view the inaugural Monaco ePrix.

CONVERGENCE plans to host a lunch in Monaco shortly after the Monaco ePrix weekend. This by-invitation-only event will provide a meet and greet opportunity for local business leaders and visiting executives from the sustainability industry. The lunch will be followed by a working session, which will help shape the 2016 event’s focus on reducing carbon emissions.
