Former American F1 driver and current Andretti Formula E racer, Scott Speed was nabbed for exceeding the maximum allowed power usage. After the race, it was learned that he had been handed a 33-second penalty for using over 150kWh max. This bumped the American down the order and out of the points.

A miserable and challenging day for the Andretti driver as he struggled with a poor qualifying which he claimed was down to traffic. During the race, the incident at turn two damaged his front wing which further compromised his race as he was not pulled in to replace it.

Speed had this to say after the race:

“Yeah it was quite dangerous really considering what happened and I damaged my front wing in the pile-up, which was not ideal but we soldiered on…We were considering changing my front wing but when we decided to change it the safety car was coming in so it was not worth pitting, so that did cost me some time”.

“The car is very quick, my first one was damaged a little bit, but my second was like a missile, but we need to have a clean session in order to make the most of our chances as we were blocked in qualifying and that makes it so much harder here in Monaco,”
