was given the order to push by his team and he obliged by implementing FanBoost to attempt a pass Di Grassi – however this almost resulted in contact and Piquet decided to consolidate the 3rd place.

Briton Sam Bird (who started 10th) was up to 7th place within Lap 1 (by inheriting positions from those involved in the T1 crash) and by the end of the pit-stop window, was up to 4th place. He closed in Piquet Jr in the closing stages but was unable to get close enough for an overtaking move.

Andretti driver, Scott Speed (who started in 13th place) damaged his

wing during the T1 incident but carried on with the race; passing

Charles Pic and Antonio Felix da Costa and was up to 8th place by lap

43. However after the race, it transpired that the Andretti driver

exceeded his energy usage and was given a 33-second time penalty

and was eventually classified 12th.

The Trulli drivers had another weekend to forget – both missing

out in good qualifying spots due to a red

flagged session and both affected by the Turn

1 incident. Liuzzi got a big hit from behind

but decided to continue with his first car

until the pitstop to both gain some vital

information for the team. The second stint

was good but he was already effectively

out of the race from the T1 incident.
