Porsche have completed a successful high down force test of their 2015 919 Hybrid.
The Stuttgart outfit chose the Motorland Aragon circuit in Spain to evaluate the aero package they will use in the Silverstone and Spa rounds of the World Endurance Championship.
"The most important new components were an updated aerodynamic package”, said Porsche team principal Andreas Seidl; adding that the team had "identified some weak points for the Le Mans 24 Hours that we will be sorting out".
The 2015-spec Porsche 919 completed 4722 miles over the course of the five days in Spain – a mammoth 12,000 miles since their tests ast Yas Marina, Sakhir and Aragon circuits. Neel Jani, Timo Bernhard, Marc Lieb and Romain Dumas were on hand to test the new 919 alonside LMP1 debutants Nick Tandy and Earl Bamber.
As in 2014, Porsche will again be concentrating on a lower down force specification for Le Mans, but have taken an aggressive approach to the start of the season with their high down force package – which didn’t appear until the Austin Round last year.
Porsche will debut the new configuration and livery the day before the official WEC pre-season test at Paul Ricard on March 27/28.
