Qualified 16th and an early overtake moved him up to 14th. Put in decent times and by lap 19 he was up to 11th place. Last lap chaos ahead of him resulted in provisional 8th but post-race investigation revealed he had used more energy than permitted and was excluded.

Prost qualified in 7th place, lost a place to Da Costa within the 1st lap but was up to 6th place by lap 27. He finished in 2nd place after avoiding Abt’s tangle with Alguersuari and the chaos at the front to join Da Costa and Piquet Jr on the podium.
