After speaking with Filipe that afternoon, the team went to secure Pole Position for the 4 Hours of Silverstone race on the Saturday, which came to a dramatic conclusion just an hour from the end. The team was leading the race and looking to put their name to the winner’s trophy, but traffic in the form of the #55 AF Corse Ferrari of Michele Rugolo, caused the Brit to go wide at Chapel Curve.

Having gone onto the grass, Dolan was merely a passenger, as the Zytek spun around and speared into the side of the Larbre Competition #50 Morgan-Judd of Gustavo Yacaman. The car then slammed into the wall at high velocity, bringing out the Safety Car, leading to the Thiriet by TDS outfit taking the win.

The relevant medical precautions were taken to get Simon out of the car safely, he tweeted the following later on: “Thanks everyone for all your kind messages. Am ok, few stitches, lots of bruises and a bent car. We'll be back-we were untouchable today. And a massive thanks to @ZytekMotorsport for building such a strong car. You guys are my new best friends!”

Filipe will get back to the series for the round at Imola on the 17th and 18th of

May, as he will be itching to help Harry and Simon make a good impression and set off to get the job done that should have happened at Silverstone. Follow what this man does over the next few years or so, and could we see him on the top step at Le Mans one day? I really hope that happens.

E-Racing would like to thank Filipe for being able to talk to us during a very busy weekend at Silverstone, as well as thanking Audi Sport’s Martyn Pass for arranging it.
