Sam Bird, who was racing in the #81 AF Corse Ferrari on his WEC debut, led the field from pole position in initial stages, pitting early for a tyre change but also had a battle with Ben Collins in the #53 Ram Racing Ferrari for the class win, but the former GP2 driver ended up third with Michele Rugolo and Stephen Wyatt.

This young Brit is definitely a welcome addition to the sportscar world.

So with many dramatic moments finishing with a red flag situation, the teams will be at Spa-Francorchamps in two weeks’ time to compete. Audi is on the back foot, but will there be more in store for us when the weather could really play a major part in the Belgian forests?
