LMP1-L: Rebellion Takes Pole As CLM Stutters At First Hurdle

Both the LMP1 and LMP2 categories had to deal with the Texas sunset shining through their visors as the qualifying session came to a close – enough to render a driver nearly blind for a couple of seconds as they rounded Turn 19 up towards the final left-hander at Turn 20.

It was a fight between the pair of Rebellion Racing R-One Toyotas for pole position for the fourth race of the

season, with the #13 car coming out on

top, as car #12 suffered a problem with its fly-by-wire throttle system, putting it into second.

The latest edition to the WEC in the LMP1-L category, the Lotus-entered CLM P1/01 AER, would find itself having to start the race from the pit lane. This was due to the car suffering major gearbox issues during the morning’s final free practice session.
