The executive realized some time ago that it is often very difficult for all members to attend the annual congress in February. One of the reasons given by a few members was that it involved a large percentage of time (4 full working days) away from the practice. This year we have decided to try a different format. Deliberately the congress was placed over a weekend. Please can we have comments on this format. This year the executive also introduced two other means of gaining CPD points for members that found it difficult to attend congresses. SAEVA paid for an equine slot a several regional congresses. The aim thereof was to provide “hands on “ equine medicine to SAEVA members as well as non-saeva members. We also presented two webinars. One on passports and certification thereof and another for the Ecod reporting system . Both webinars had over 175 registrations and attendances. The webinars were very kindly sponsored by Zoetis and V-tech. We will certainly be doing more of the same in the upcoming year. The above is some of the executives achievements in the last year. What follows will be some of what we need to achieve in the upcoming year. benefit but in the majority of cases it stopped at the congress. Zoetis is going to sponsor a dinner at this congress for mentors and mentees. The 2019 students will be assigned/select their mentors at this function. Saeva will be making an official comment . if you would like to include any points please contact me on terry@fourwaysequine. co.za Regards and hope to see you all at the congress. • The constitution. We all know that with time things become outdated. The executive has undertaken an extensive review of the SAEVA Constitution. Unfournately some aspects of our constitution have become dated over time. At the AGM at this congress we will introduce several suggested changes to the constitution. We will keep the members informed on what these suggested changes are to be via our communications channels over the next week or so. • SAEVA Mentoring Group. A nice new initiative was started this year thanks to Zoetis. For some years at the congress students have selected mentors. In some cases this had a long lasting • Volume 21 Issue 1 | March 2019 • 5
