South-South FG to beef up security in worship centres — Ngige The Federal Government says it will come up with security plans that will guarantee the safety of lives and property in worship centres across the country. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, said this in Ozubulu, Anambra State when he led a delegation to commiserate with the people and government of Anambra on Saturday. The delegation was led to St. Philip’s Catholic Church by Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Nkem Okeke, and the Catholic Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Most Rev. Dr Hillary Okeke. Ngige said the Federal Government would cooperate with Anambra to ensure that the culprits were brought to book. The minister, who described the attack as “heinous, wicked and sacrilegious,” said the delegation would report back to the Presidency. He said the Federal Government would also work out a security framework to protect worshippers anywhere in the country. Ngige, who was briefed by the Bishop of the church, Rev. Fr. Jude Onwuaso, said efforts would be made to forestall a recurrence. In his remarks, Okeke said the church was praying for the repentance of the perpetrators. He said the government and the security agencies could go ahead with the hunt for the culprits, but added that, as Christians, the diocese was praying that the masterminds would change their ways. He called for prayers and support for the victims, either directly to the affected families, through the church or its Victims Support Fund. Edo, Actionaid partner to end irregular migration Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has said that his administration would collaborate with relevant organisations and agencies to reduce the increasing rate of irregular migration by youths in the state. Obaseki stated this while launching the ‘Creation of alternatives to migration through socio-economic development and sensitisation’ project initiated by Actionaid Nigeria in Benin City. The governor, represented by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Yinka Omoregbe, on Thursday, said that the state government had a clear commitment to tackle the menace with a task force on anti-trafficking to be inaugurated on August 15. “We understand that we have a problem on irregular migration. To an extent, we have it among the young men. But we have it far more among the different women that are being trafficked. “It is definitely something I can see will be a symbiotic initiative that will also enhance and enrich the task force when it starts. I am sure that there are many ways that the government can work with you.” The Country Director of the organisation, Ojobo Atuluku, said that the project was targeted at the reduction of exposure of the Edo youths to the attendant risk of irregular migration, using livelihoods, conflict management and communication for behavioural change strategies. August 13, 2017 6 We don’t want caretaker chairmen, NULGE tells Dickson Simon Utebor T he National Union of Local Government Employees in Bayelsa State has asked Governor Seriake Dickson to jettison any plan to reappoint caretaker chairmen to administer local councils in the state. The state Chairman, NULGE, Mr. Akpos Ekiegha, said this during a news conference in Yenagoa on Saturday. He said the cost of running the caretaker system amid Polity dwindling federal allocations was responsible for the salary arrears owed council workers in the state. Ekiegha urged Dickson to allow heads of the local government areas to run the councils as acting chairmen for a period of eight months in order to clear the arrears owed workers in the various councils. The NULGE boss stated, “If they are allowed to run the councils as acting chairmen, there will be nothing like salary arrears.’’ He cited Cross River and Delta states as examples of states doing that. “If civil servants are allowed to man the system, they know their boundaries. They cannot ask for a security vote of N20m but the care хȁɵݥͬ)ȁ͕ɥٽєݕ)88+qQ(ɕх)ɵݽձͅѡɔ)͕́ɥɽ)ѥձ)չ)Qɕɔѡݥͅѡ)8Ѽͽٔѡ)ɽЁݔ́٥)͕م̰ٔи=)́́Ѽ䁽)ݽɭϊdͅɥ́)䁥́аЁݥхлt)!ͅݥѡѡ)ɥɥѡɕх)ɵѡЁչ)ɕ́ݕɔɕٕѡ)ѵ̰))ݥѠѱɽٕЁ)Ʌѥ̰)ͅɥ́ݕչ)ݽɭ́ɕՍѼ)ȁѡ̸)ͼѼ)ٕɹȁͽѼձ)ɽ͔ѡЁMѕȰ+0HIɅȰ ѕɕ%ѥє ́9ɥ5ȸM唁ݽAɕͥаAɽMոAɥ)% ͡쁅YAɥɅѥ% 5ȸ9Ʌ յɥѡ)ٕȁɹɔѕ % 8Ѽ% 1̸ɥ丁AѼ݄)ѡٕɹЁݽձх)ٕȁѡ嵕Ёɥ)͍ݽɭ́ɽѡ)ٕɹ́ɑȁѼ)ѡȁͅɥ́ɕձɱ)!ͅѡ嵕)ѡɥ͍ݽɭ)ѡхєٕɹ)݅́Ёѡɕͽ́ѡ)хєչݽɭ́ݕɔ)ɕѱ䁽ɥ)չ))ѡЁѡхєٕɹ)݅́ѕəɥݥѠ)ٕɹЁչ̰ͅ)ѡɔٕȁՍ+qIѡȰѡٕɹ)ɕѡՑ͔́)չѥ̳tͅ)!ѡȁͅѡ)) չ́9U1)5! ѡ)ѡ䁅ͥѕѡ)嵕Ёͅ䁅ɕ)ݼѡɕѡ)ѡ)ɕѠѡչ̸)Mɥ́ѥѥ́䁅ѡ)P)MAɽմ)ٕЁ )Ʌѕ)ЁYɔ)́ɥѡѥ)́܁хѥ́Ё)-ձ չѥ)ÍٕMхєͽ)ѡ̸)Q͵ȁMA )5ȸ)=ɤͅ)хѕЁAЁ!ɍЁ)MɑѡЁѡѥ)ѡ܁хѥ)Ё݅́)Q9́䁽)9ɥɕѕѡЁͽ)ɽѕѥѡ́ɥ)͡Ёѡѥٕ́ȁ)аѡ)ѡé)ɕٽɔ݅ɑѼ)́ɴ)=ɤ)͍ɥ)ѡ)ٕЁ́ݽɥͽ)ͅ她ѡЁѡ䁅)́ѹ́Ё)յɅՍɔ)ɽɅ))ѡ)չѥ̸+qMAe)ѵ)Ѽѡݕɔ)չѥ́ѡ9)фɕ́չ͡)́Սɥ́ѡ)ѥ )хѥ́и+qQ)))ѕ)))5Ʌմ))Uх5T)ѡɕѡЁѼݥ)مɥ䁽ͽٕѵ)ɝ)ɽ̰Ցչٕͥ)͍݅͡ɑ́ѡ)չѥ̳tͅ)=ɤͅѡЁѡIٕ)ٕɹаѕȁѥ)ͅɕЁѡ)չ䰁ɕѕѡ-ձ)AɽЁ%хѥ)5ѽɥ ѕ(ȸ)!
