Michael Ray) and those records are coming out now. I will be back in the studio in 2014 working on another solo project and also a holiday CD for next Christmas! DB: What is the hardest thing to do for you when putting today a music piece of your own? “I want to be remembered as an artist that values music education ” KS: Sleeping is the hardest thing! :) I absolutely don’t sleep well when in the process of recording and writing. I can’t seem to shut off my brain. So I’m constantly singing melodies all day long. DB: Who are some of the top musicians, singers or industry people you have worked with since your debut album? KS: Phil Davis out of Atlanta, Kelvin Wooten out of Alabama, Jazz in Pink and I’ve recently performed with Brian Simpson and Jeanette Harris. Also, I’ve been blessed to share the stage with so many artists I’ve admired through the years like Nick Colionne, Karen Briggs, Alex Bugnon, and Spyro Gyra! DB: When performing at events, do you use the same musicians or do you have to prep with a new band most of the time? KS: I try to have my band with me whenever possible, but many times when I travel out of state a band is provided for me. So I usually go up a day before the show for rehearsals. I’ve been blessed to have some great host bands backing me recently! DB: As a member of the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra you perform in solo recitals and concerts across the United States and abroad. Do you have plans to tour as a solo artist in 2014? KS: I will most likely tour as a jazz soloist in 2014, and will perform solo recitals on the classical stage as well. A list of jazz dates can always be found on my website at www.kimscottmusic.com and also you find information on social media via my Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages under kscottflute. 14 Entrigue Magazine | February 2014 “I am hugely blessed and have been given the strength and endurance to continue”
