SUSAN STORM by Rachel Mayan

Many of you know Susan Storm as the face behind the Group Fitness Department at HAC . While she has only been the full time director for four years , Susan ’ s fitness career has spanned well over three decades .
It all began while taking a high-impact dance aerobics class at the Brandywine YMCA as a young mom .

I was flattered to be asked to teach , and as it turns out , I loved it and have been ‘ hooked ’ on teaching one format or another ever since .
Dance had been a part of her young life , so when she was asked if she would be interested in teaching , Susan decided to give it a try . “ I was flattered to be asked to teach , and as it turns out , I loved it and have been ‘ hooked ’ on teaching one format or another ever since .” Susan began teaching two to three classes a week while she was a stay-at home mom . “ I have taught everything from High Impact Aerobics to Step to Kickboxing in my early career , then on to BodyPump , Cycling , Pilates , Barre and more in recent years . You name it , and I have probably taught it at some point in my fitness life .”
As her children got older , she went back to work full-time in sales , all the while still teaching group fitness classes part time . “ That was a constant in my life and was always hugely important to me ,” she recalls .
