mom to mom INFANT SWIMMING RESOURCE Just Playing Ball Going for a Dip, Mom! I am really, REALLY thankful we have had our toddlers enrolled in ISR lessons for the past three years. While I was making dinner [one night], my 2 and 3 year-old toddlers decided to strip and take a quick dip without ANYone in our home even noticing they had gone outside (to be fair, my husband [was] at a business dinner [that] evening). After noticing the quiet, I sent my ten-year-old to find them. I’ve been a mother long enough to know that with toddlers, silence is certainly NOT golden. My son found them both skinny dipping in our in-ground pool. It only took a couple minutes for them to get into a potentially dangerous situation - isn’t that always the case? Thankfully, they are both confident swimmers and it was pretty much a non-event. I can’t imagine how different the scenario would have been had they not had this valuable training. I highly recommend the instructors at Hockessin Athletic Center for Infant Self-Rescue™ training. Those ladies are such a blessing to our family. Yes, it takes time and yes, it costs money, but my children’s’ safety is more valuable than either of those. Now to fix that lock on the deck gate... Preparing little ones for a lifetime of fun, safe enjoyment of the water starts with giving them the skills they would need to save their own lives if the need ever arose. Infant Swimming Resource goes beyond traditional swimming instruction, by teaching children ages 6 months - 6 years old ISR Self-Rescue™ techniques designed to help them survive should they reach the water alone. 12 Our son had an opportunity to use his Self-Rescue™ skills this summer. While vacationing in the Hamptons, he was playing with a ball poolside with a cousin. I was on the opposite side just thinking to myself that this probably wasn't a good idea when he threw the ball and fell into the pool fully clothed. He immediately came up to the surface and went into a wobbly float, but it was good enough for him to yell, "GET ME OUT OF HERE!" I walked around the pool, leaned over and pulled him out. Then, to make him feel a little better since he was a little upset, we all jumped in the pool fully clothed – ISR Skilled 1-year-old daughter included. By the next day, he was saying, "Remember we all jumped in the pool with our clothes on?" with a big smile on his face. Thank you for making what could have been a traumatic event just a funny little memory from our summer vacation.
