Had you done personal training before the
challenge? What was it about Dewey that
made him the right fit for you?
I have never had a personal trainer before
but I had always thought about having one.
My physical therapist spoke with Rachael Ling
and they recommended Dewey because of
his experience and also his focus on
form and balance. Once I met
him I knew he would be
perfect. He was kind and
thoughtful and had lots
of good ideas for me.
You clearly found success with this
challenge; 10.03%
body fat lost in 12
weeks is amazing! What
would you consider “key”
to your success?
Kale smoothies. Truly, every
morning I made a smoothie with
kale or spinach and fruit. I drank a
lot of water and exercised five days a
week – even if all I did was 30 minutes on
the stationary bike, I always made time to
exercise and do the PT for my knee. One
thing Dewey said to me at the beginning was
that this battle would be won in the kitchen
and although he could help with the workout
it was really up to me to change my eating
habits. He was right. That's why I signed up
for Lose It for Life after the challenge, which
I'm doing now. I want to continue my focus on
the food side of weight loss.
Was there any point during
the challenge, or at any
time as a HAC
Member, that you
thought about
giving up?
Nope. I never
thought about giving
up. One of the
exercises in my first
circuit with Dewey
was walking and
carrying kettlebells: regular
walk, high knees, etc. The
balance was hard for me, but every
time I set them down I felt as light as a feather
and realized that this - the extra body fat I
was carrying around was really "weighing"
me down.
One thing Dewey said to
me at the beginning was
that this battle would be
won in the kitchen . . . he
was right.
How do you feel right now compared to
when you started?
I feel stronger.
Do you feel like your results are
sustainable?
I don't feel like I'm finished yet with my
fitness plan or my weight loss, so I plan to
continue with Dewey for at least one full
year. Or longer!
