I am 80 years old, and I don’t feel it, thanks to exercising at HAC. MACHINES Machines ride up and down on a track, which helps to keep you in perfect form. One thing that has helped me feel great at this age is strength training, whether that’s with machines, free weights, or cables. Below I’ll go into the key differences among the three and demonstrate four great moves for building strength with cables. FREE WEIGHTS When exercising with free weights, your muscles must compensate for the imbalance that dumbbells create, which in turn makes you stronger. CABLES Cables are a more functional form of exercise.
