Karate has given me strength , compassion , respect , discipline , but above all , it ’ s given me family .
of advice or congratulations . This is what I base my teaching around . Yes , I teach a specific skill set , but I feel it essential to also train the child how to handle a win or learn from their experiences to become a better martial artist and person .”
Her passion for her students led her to help develop the Ninjas and Elite Dragons programs , along with the collaborative minds of Anthony and Lidia . Ashley is the Head Instructor for the programs . “ The kids are why you ’ re here ,” Ashley says . “ They make everything worthwhile . Kids come because they want to do it , but they stay because you make them feel special . It warms my soul to see the encouraging smiles and how kind they are to each other as they are learning complex skills .”
Her experience as a martial artist is one she wishes every kid could experience . “ Kenpo has brought passion into my life ,” she says . “ Sure , it gives you an outlet for exercise and self-discipline , but these are not the most valuable skills I ' ve gained through my twenty years of training . Karate has given me strength , compassion , respect , discipline , but above all , it ’ s given me family . We look out for each other and encourage one another to be great . The friends I have made have become priceless to me . I trust them with my life . It ' s a bond that spreads from years of training and relying on that person to keep you safe .
“ My favorite part of joining the Martial Arts Program at HAC is the instant bond I felt when I walked in the door . I love that Lidia is always there to ask about your day . I think it is important for everyone to feel like they belong somewhere and for me , I am just fortunate enough to know where I belong . “ I am part of an exceptional program that has given me an opportunity to grow as a person , teacher , and martial artist . I am extremely proud of my students and love being their teacher just as much as they love karate .”
