A Message from Your Principal
Dear Parents, Students, and Friends,
We hope you are all enjoying these first few weeks of school. Our team at EHS is continuously working to build a positive school
culture where students feel welcome, safe, challenged, and supported. One method for nurturing a positive school culture is
to cultivate respectful and appropriate relationships among students and staff. Research shows that students who feel
connected with at least one staff member at school are more likely to be successful. Keeping this in mind, this year we are
piloting a new mentoring program where all students will be assigned a mentor faculty member. Approximately once a month,
this group will meet to check-in, review grades, set goals, and discuss resources available. Additionally, we will use this time to
explicitly teach strategies to support our students’ academic, social, and emotional development. Freshman will receive added
support as part of this program to ensure a smooth transition to high school. We hope these steps will help to ensure that ALL
students feel connected and supported at EHS.
Additionally, in December of this year, a New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) accreditation team will visit
our school to gather information about the quality of our school resources, facilities, curriculum, instruction, assessment,
culture, and climate. This process involves professionals from other districts visiting our school to identify areas of strength
and areas in need of improvement. The results of their visit will be shared with the public and will inform future goal-setting
and action plans.
One area where we are always looking to improve is communication with our families. This summer we reorganized our
website to make it more user-friendly. I encourage you to visit our website http://enfieldhigh.sharpschool.com/ for
updates on accessing PowerSchool and other general information. We also plan to continue to use our school’s Twitter
feed to keep you updated on school news and activities. Please follow EHS at @EnfieldHS1 to learn of the latest school
news and the district Twitter handle @EnfieldPS for district news and notifications. Finally, School Messenger is a great
way to get important school and district updates related to school cancellations, safety issues, and other notifications.
You can sign up for email and phone notifications from School Messenger by visiting the district
website:http://www.enfieldschools.org/parent_support/school_messenger/. If you are interested in becoming more
involved in our school community, I invite you to join our Parent Advisory Group. Please RSVP for meetings by visiting
our website where you’ll find the Parent Advisory link under “Parents and Students."
It is hard to believe, but Homecoming Weekend is right around the corner (October 15-20 th ). We are eagerly looking forward
to a week full of school spirit, sporting events, a pep rally, and our annual Homecoming dance. Parent Teacher conferences
will be held on November 1 st and November 29 th . Letters will be sent home and posted on our website with information
on how to register for conferences in the coming days.
We hope all our students and families are off to a great start to the school year.
Sincerely,
Erin E. Clark
Principal
