Zagreb HR [email protected] MANAGEMENT´S GOALS CAN EVEN BE FUN FOR NURSE AND BENEFIT FOR THE SMILE OF A CHILD IN DAY HOSPITAL The need for hospitalization of children in the world, including in Croatia, has changed with the time. New concept of children medical care has focused on day hospital or outpatient department. Outpatient department engages to reduce the average of the hospitalisation days, reduced stress for small patients and increased economic benefits for the health system in total. University hospital Zagreb is a leading education and treatment institution there are actively cooperating with international centres and strives to provide high quality care for the paediatric patients. Day hospital was established as part of the Department of Paediatrics in order to allow adequate diagnostic and medical treatment and education activities for paediatric patients. The advantages of day hospitals are reflected in securing the necessary comprehensive hospital treatment and the achievement of positive psychosocial aspects in terms of the possibility of continuous residence of parents with a child during treatment. High quality services and patient satisfaction provided in outpatient settings enlarge the number of patients. There have affected on efficiency of organizational structures as maintained of the large patient's fluctuation. Definition the workflow for each process in the day hospital separately is extremely important in according the effort to improving organisation and efficacy and was the results of nurse´s team workshop. The milestone definition visible all needs in work process and helps to assure and improve quality.
