This poster communicates the preliminary results of
investigations carried out on the deformation profile and
mechanical properties of the cathode collector bar at conditions
experienced within the aluminum reduction cell
during
electrolysis.
• Effect of corrosion and metal loss at test conditions
• Effect of thermal expansion and phase change
• Creep behaviour at constant temperature 900 oC and
constant stress at 2 MPa
Compressive Creep Test
Compressive creep test on AISI 1006 in a three zone
resistance furnace of flowing argon atmosphere with
thermocouples, load cell capacity of 10 kN and an LVDT
displacement device. Metallography
