Encaustic Arts Magazine WINTER 2017 - Page 44

Bibliophylum, (side detail), books, wax, pins, view of 6 feet of installation, 2015 Treating each piece as a tiny specimen, it seemed appropriate to spear them with pins, in the style of an insect collection. I began to pin them to the wall in groupings and it became clear that each piece was enhanced by being a part of a collection. The idea of a different kind of book collection spurred me on to try many different arrangements of my little pieces, but after a few years nothing felt right, so I put the pieces away in storage.
