dedication to the creative impulse. What they share and embody is the
understanding that the key to finding any satisfaction in our art journey is
an openness of mind and eye, and a desire for knowledge. The greatest
asset one can have as an artist may be the willingness to subject ourselves
to an intensive search for better understanding of self, of material, and of
the outer limits of one’s skill.
An opportunity to gain more skills, explore a new application or
approach to our media comes this fall through the Artisan EXPO. This is
a learning event, where you can browse vendors and see all kinds of art
materials; explore the many workshops being offered; participate in the
encaustic retreat; meet other artists, attend panel discussions, etc.
Please look over the classes, demonstrations, and discussions on offer,
and if you feel inspired, register to participate in this event. If you are
not in the Santa Fe area, check out workshops or classes being offered
locally. There are so many wonderful artist/teachers all over the country,
and increasingly, around the world, who are ready to share their
knowledge and experience. A workshop can be a really fun way to learn
something new that can take your work in an exciting direction.
As always, I thank the artists in this issue of the magazine for
sharing their work and their thoughts with us, and you for reading.
Happy Spring!
