Local Music began to play the guitar . He recalls his father playing music on the guitar and having Gustavo play . Gustavo was quick to pick up the chords , his father challenged him by changing the chords and he was able to adapt quickly . His father was very involved and encouraged him to follow his dreams . He saw his musical talent , and how he was able to read music very young . His father encouraged him to go to school for music . Gustavo graduated from the prestigious Estudio de Arte Guitaristico in Mexico City . He was also taught classes in technique by Maestro Juan Reyes and taught classes of interpretation from Maestro Manuel Lopez Ramos . He also studied with master musicians Pepe Romero and Celine Romero of the world renowned Romero family . He shows deep appreciation for these mentors by saying they were incredible teachers and enriched the process as they had so much to offer from how to hold the instrument to visualization of music and where your hand goes note by note , to the interpretation of music and what notes need to come out to make the music come alive . He describes music and playing music as a language which opens both hemispheres of your mind .

As I sat interviewing Gustavo , I was grateful to get to know him . He is quite accomplished and confident , while still very personable and humble . His family he says is his constant and is what motivates him to perform . He speaks lovingly of the support from his brothers and sisters and also on how talented each one is . He credits the work ethic and love from his parents Lorenzo & Josephine Maria Pimentel . He credits his mother for being an inspiration , and being strong and always there for the entire family .

Gustavo owns 14 guitars , the earliest dating back to when he was 6 years old . He has never parted with any of his guitars in fact he says the instruments become a part of your soul like a companion . He describes it further by saying “ you live a part of your life with that instrument and have a relationship with the instrument and it becomes alive when you play . A true classical guitarist knows the sentiment each guitar has ”. He like any true musician feels music is spiritual and the keys to enlightenment .
