show them , “ Trust me , if I can do it , you can definitely do it .” I don ’ t try to over-speak them . I try to spend a lot of time doing things like protecting animals , taking illegal guns off the street , [ provide ] clean water for people and stop human trafficking . I spend time around the people that I love , I have a good time and hopefully I inspire people . One day maybe the next Bill Gates is in his pajamas watching Shark
Tank eating a bowl of cereal at 11 years old , and he or she is going to go out there and change the world . So when I say my life is successful , that ’ s what it is .
MADE : With the new year starting and the feeling of new possibilities on the horizon I feel people get caught up in that short lived motivation to work on their goals . What advice would you give on keeping that New Year momentum ?
DJ : It ’ s the new year , we all want to be a better person and a lot of people will go to the gym for one month or they ’ ll eat healthy for one month or they ’ ll stop doing something that they feel is negative . There are a couple of things I would say because I challenge myself as well . Number one , take inventory of yourself , write down all the things you hate and all the things you love and start to delegate or stay away from the things you hate if you can . Maybe it ’ s a relationship that you know isn ’ t going any further . Maybe it ’ s the fact that you don ’ t call your mother every single day and tell her you love her and you should start doing that . Make those small improvements there . Also , I know that I am beating a dead horse , but goal setting — and understand what goal setting is . The first time I read Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill is when I understood what goal setting is . I read my 10 goals . 6 of them expire in 6 months . I read at them every night before I go to bed and every morning when I wake up . Why ? Because it ’ s the last thing I ’ m going to think about before I go to sleep instead of worrying about something . It ’ s the first thing I read when I wake up because it ’ s the first action I take . When you read the goals , you have to say what you want to accomplish , how are you going to accomplish it and exactly what you ’ re going to get in return for it . It could be about your , and relationship or losing weight . It ’ s something you have to visualize . You do the same thing for your career , faith , romance money — whatever it is . Do that . Trust me . Every single time that I slack or go two weeks without doing that , I ask myself , “ Why am I so damn depressed ?” and then I go back to [ visualizing ]. It is your compass and it keeps you on track toward your goal .
