Anastasia Bakal of Russia defeated Scotland’s Alison Muirfield in the Girls’ Under-21 division as the Russian crafted scores of 70, 73 and 69. Like Josh Hill, Bakal was able to stay calm under pressure and fire a composed 32 on the final day back nine. Bakal found four birdies in the final six holes to win by four shots and she will now attend her first Faldo Series Grand Final.

One of the strengths of the Middle East Championship is its ability to attract a varied number of nationalities. The last category, the Under-16 Girls’, was won by Sahana Paravantavidaá from The United States, meaning every division had a winner hailing from a different part of the globe. Paravantavidaá pipped Japanese competitor and AESGC member Sakura Kawakami by three shots and the American will line up at her first Grand Final.

The Faldo Series season moves on to the Ireland Championship on April 3-4. More than 70 players will line up at the stunning Lough Erne Resort in Northern Ireland. Defending Champion Rory Williamson will face fierce competition from some of the finest young golfers in Western Europe.
