The 2013-2014 Dubai Schools League Leaves Lasting Impression on Junior Golfers

(Dubai, UAE) – On March 10, 2014 the Dubai Schools League hosted their final event of the 2013-2014 season, at The Track - Meydan Golf. Funded by the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) this junior league is make an impact in Dubai schools as the numbers of competitors and teams continue to grow.

The Dubai Schools League started in 2010 with only 8 players and two schools. With the hard work and dedication of founder Diya Chopra the league has grown. Now the Dubai Schools League has over 50 different players representing 10 different schools. This is making talent very easy to come by.

Diya Chopra the founder and student/junior golfer of Dubai American Academy commented. “The reason I started the league was to try and make golf which is an individual sport, a team sport. Golf is really a unique sport because the handicapping system makes it a level playing field. I thought it would be pretty nice for boys and girls of different age groups to compete on the same team. I don't think there is any other sport that offers this and from that angle I think the league has been great in expanding golf into schools as a team event.”
