Winners announced on eMetroTimes.com/photocontest F ive Rockdale County Public Schools (RCPS) eighth grade students embarked on a life-changing journey Oct. 10 as the district’s first ever REACH Scholars. Each student will receive a $10,000 scholarship upon completion of the REACH program and high school graduation. The REACH Scholars are: Angela Ruvalcaba, Dyson Lewis, and Shariden Beazer of Conyers Middle School; Alayna Crutchfield of Edwards Middle School; Tae’Jon Bailey of Gen. Ray Davis Middle School. “I am just so thrilled that our students have this opportunity,” said RCPS Director of Community and Student Support and RCPS REACH Coordinator April Fallon. “Just thinking about this journey is incredible. REACH is a strategic investment in our students and our state, opening doors for youth who may not have the opportunity to seek post- secondary education due to financial constraints.” Beginning in the eighth grade and continuing through high school, REACH Scholars are paired with a mentor and an academic coach. Ninja Quest Fitness will have an obstacle course rig and 10 foot Warped Wall to provide an amazing experience for kids ages 6 to 11 years old. Ninja Quest Fitness is known as one of the best places in Atlanta to train athletes, including those preparing for the American Ninja Warrior events. Their gym/training facility provides an area for both kids and adults to get great exercise. Their mobile obstacle course rig and 10 foot Warped Wall will provide a fun experience for kids attending the expo while offering to empower them as they overcome physical obstacles. Alcovy Media, who is hosting the East Metro Atlanta Health & Fitness Expo, is planning more fun, kids activities at the event.
