VEGUETA
In 1478 the troops of the conqueror Juan Rejón erected the Real of the Palms . It was the first Castilian site in the Atlantic , as well as the place where the Crown of Castile began the Conquest of the Canaries . Later , it was called Vegueta , a neighbourhood characterized by its old houses . It is the historical area of the capital city of Gran Canaria , Las Palmas .
