closer to each other. This promotes communication among the students while trying to solve problems in a peaceful way. Sometimes, we think that we cannot do anything to help or change things because we are still students or we do not have the means for that. But as we can see, we can do a lot of them. We demonstrate our commitment contributing our grain of sand. It is nice to think that we can do a few but important things to try to help and make this world works a bit better. A SMALL WORLD AT IES MESA Y LÓPEZ Multiculturalism is one of the emblem of our high school. There are a lot of students who come from countries all over the world. Look at the following chart which shows the different nationalities there are here and you will see that there is a small world in our high school. We are all very different, we have different believes, customs and traditions and we have to learn to live together and respect each other. That is the reason why there are a lot of activities throughout the year where we share moments and experiences. The most traditional one is the intercultural breakfast that takes place at the end of October every year. We have breakfast in the main playground. There is a table for each group- class that students will have to decorate. Then each group sets up the table and each student put on the table his/her typical meal from their country. Since we are many (there are 850-900 students in the school), in every group-class there are people from other countries so we all have the chance to try food we have never tried. This year, in our group class there are students from Germany, Colombia, Senegal, Bangladesh, Philippines, Paraguay, Perú and Italy and from other parts of the country, Galicia. So, we had a really nice table with a lot of different foods. They all tasted delicious. 4th year ESO A classmates involved in the eMates project during the Intercultural breakfast at IES Mesa y López
