One Star company
We are delighted to have been recognised
as a One Star company in 2015. We
recognise this is a gold standard of employee
engagement; an essential component of
delivering excellent service. It is an impartial
assessment comparing other similar sized
companies across the UK, not just in
our industry.
We set ourselves improvement targets each
year and we are now aiming to be a Two
Star company in 2016.
Investors in People
We first gained our Investors in
People accreditation in 2002, since then
we have consistently maintained the
standards required. In 2015 we were
reassessed and again achieved this
excellent quality assurance mark. This
shows our customers, large and small,
public and private, that we are a good
company to partner with. Our next challenge
is to gain the highest level award.
Workplace Wellbeing
Charter Award
We have now been awarded the National
Workplace Wellbeing Charter. This national
standard covers all areas of health and
wellbeing including mental health and is
an opportunity for Ellisons to demonstrate
commitment to the health of our colleagues.
We provide informed knowledge and advice
to employees relevant to work and home life.

Ellisons and the environment
Local charity support
We have an ethical supply chain policy
and responsibly source the products and
equipment we sell. Our own brand products
have minimum packaging and we actively
work with our suppliers to look at ways of
reducing packaging.
We support a number of other local charities
in the Midlands area including Myton Hospice,
Mary Ann Evans Hospice, The Warwickshire
Wildlife Trust and we always respond where
we can to requests. We raise funds by
organising lots of fun activities to support
these good causes.
Our iconic Ellisons parcel boxes are made from
responsibly sourced cardboard with a fully
recycled lining. The boxes are reusable and
recyclable. We use a void fill packing system
which is mainly air. Our plastic bags can be
reused and are fully recyclable in plastic waste.
We set and achieve targets each year for
waste management and reduction and remain
conscious of our carbon footprint.
Our Directory is printed on paper
manufactured from wood pulp sourced from
well managed and sustainable forests.
Ellisons and the community
We are long term sponsors of the beauty
therapy competitions finals at The Skills Show
and World Skills. We are delighted that the
2015 competitor won gold at World Skills, a
tremendous boost for beauty therapy in the
UK. We are committed in our support of this
important national initiative and the ethos of
excellence it promotes.
Teenage Cancer Trust
We continue to support the Teenage Cancer
Trust (TCT) as our company charity. We’ve
worked hard to raise over £20,000 so far,
helping to provide unique support for young
people with cancer.

Healing Hands network is dedicated to
relieving suffering from the mental, physical
and emotional after-effects of war. We help
by donating and sending products to their
Sarajevo based volunteers as well as others.
It is a charity where beauty and holistic
therapists can use their skills to achieve life
improving results.
Local education
We offer work experience for young learners
from local schools as well as talks about
careers in our Academy.
Apprenticeships
We offer apprenticeships and VRQs to our
permanent staff and our new starters.
