Senses Fail - In Your Absence Pure Noise Records | Release Date : 3rd March 2017
As they hit their 15th anniversary , Post Hardcore classics Senses Fail are set to release acoustic EP In Your Absence which combines feelings of nostalgia with elements of previous release Pull The Thorns From Your Heart although being a softer release to its predecessor .
Lyrically , Vocalist Buddy Nielsen gets personal , tackling a range of themes on this record . From confessing his fear of losing his wife prematurely to her battle with Multiple Sclerosis on nostalgic sounding title track In Your Absence , expressing his anger towards his father on Family Tradition to claiming to get what he deserves on reworked oldie Lost and Found , the scene is instantly set to how he was feeling when writing these songs . Opener Jets to Peru lyrically keeps within the same vein of the other tracks but sports a catchier and pop side to Senses Fail , citing similarities to Moose Blood , and is something unexpected from the band but although still being a great track , something seems to be missing .
With songs that win you over from start to finish , In Your Absence is a terrific release appealing to fans old and new and a solid addition to the bands discography .
Suicide Silence - Suicide Silence Nuclear Blast | Release Date : 24th February 2017
“ Suicide Silence ” is the self-titled 5th album from Deathcore group Suicide Silence . Prior to the release of the full record Suicide Silence have already faced a huge amount of backlash with petitions spreading round the Internet to prevent the album from being released and unfortunately the low expectations were met with a bitterly disappointing album .
“ Suicide Silence ” is obviously a new chapter in the band ’ s career and they tried taking influences from nu-metal acts such as Korn and Deftones but fell flat on their faces in the process clearly seen in the gloomy track ‘ Run ’. Suicide Silence tried so hard to be experimental with this record and push their genre boundaries unfortunately this experiment has gone horrifically wrong . It ’ s all well and good for a band to experiment and push boundaries but if they ’ re going to do it they should at least try and do it well instead of being a mediocre mash-up of other bands . Eddie Hermida ’ s once powerful vocals are now painfully lacklustre , his cleans in ‘ Doris ’ are painful . It ’ s a shame this is the new chapter for Suicide Silence who have previously released some amazing albums in the past , let ’ s hope they turn the page quickly .
