DEEZ NUTS

Minutes before doors opened in London for the hardcore heavy You Are Part of This Tour curated and headlined by Deez Nutz we managed to grab a few minutes backstage at the O2 Islington Academy with guitarist Matt Rogers aka ‘ Realbad ’. We ask him about the bands upcoming album , politics and how the tour itself was put together .
With this tour you ’ ve decided to take things into your own hands by taking bands out that you ’ ve hand picked and you ’ re also not at the mercy of the bookings agents and stuff like that . Can you explain the ins and out of booking a tour in this way and how did it come together ?
Well , we always , whenever we do a headline tour regardless we always try and take our boys with us , cause we don ’ t like touring with bands that we don ’ t know . I mean you gotta start doing that after a while because you would ’ ve toured with the same people all the time and we had this idea that we were doing Europe three to four times a year and it was getting like trying to find another way to not make it stale . So bands like Madball have the Rebellion tour and their own branded thing so we were like we should do our own branded thing around this time every year . Comeback Kid , First Blood have been our boys since forever and Jesse from Stick ( Stick To Your Guns ) he manages Get The Shot and that was like a fucking … whats the word ?… he requested he put it in for them and it worked out cause they ’ re fucking amazing . And Reality Slap we ’ ve always had love for Portuguese mans and we ’ re friends with their drummer who ’ s in another band that we used to tour with so we took them and Hellions , we ’ ve been trying to take them on tour since , they ’ re like our little brothers you know what I mean we fucking love those kids so you know we just try and take our friends .
Your album artwork is usually quite gritty and hard hitting given that sort of street style aesthetic that matches the songs , however the cover to your new record ‘ Binge & Purgatory ’ is pretty , pristine , pink and quite arty . Does this change mirror the music on the record ?
It ’ s kinda like a wrench in the works we ’ re trying to like , we put a lot into that artwork and we ’ re trying to surprise people with what the record sounds like once you hear
