Last , But not least … THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN ! This band have been a huge inspiration across the last two decades , releasing 6 studio albums , touring the globe with their crazy performances including fire breathing , bloodied up band members and smashed instruments just to name a few .
Tonight ’ s performance wasn ’ t about that . It was about saying goodbye to their die-hard fans in a white wash of nostalgia . Kicking off from the darkness with ‘ PRANCER ’ the strobe lights were off , it was intensely electrifying , it was like constantly being ‘ the deer in the headlights ’. Guitarist BEN WEINMEN leaping from his amp from the off , and all the band members conducting animalistic style behavior , we knew this was going to be a set that people will talk about in years to come . After a couple of tracks , GREG PUCIATO stated they were not going to play song after song with an encore … They were going to play an hour and a half encore , which sent a roaring thunder through the Concorde 2 .
The crowd set their minds to giving TDEP the send off they deserve , by circle pits , Moshing and a continuous wave of crowd surfers , to which there was not enough security to handle the amount of people coming over the barrier ! With well-known tracks such as ‘ PANASONIC YOUTH ’, ‘ BLACK BUBBLEGUM ’, and ‘ MILK LIZARD ’ being well structured into the set list to accompany their most recent release and tour title ‘ DISSOCIATION ’, this band were far from over ! PUCIATO ’ s cleanly sung choruses in the likes of ‘ ONE OF US IS THE KILLER ’ travelled through the venue , with every word from the crowd being sung straight back at them … and being the traditional style of a headline band , of course there was an encore . The crowd waiting eagerly for them to come back , to which low lights appeared and it slowly brought the atmosphere back with ‘ MOUTH OF GHOSTS ’, before ending the night in chaos with ‘ SETTING FIRE TO SLEEPING GIANTS ’ and ‘ 43 % BURNT ’.
Having just announced one final performance at this years Download Festival , your time to see this band , is getting slimmer by the day !
All in all , this was the gig of the year for many fans and to see them play Brighton again , they gave ‘ TDEP ’ the send off they deserve .
