Introduce yourself ! Who are you and where did it all begin ? We ’ re Secrets of Mariana a Female Fronted Melodic Metalcore band from Birmingham . The band formed in 2012 when Amy , Ash and Nick started writing together , after a multitude of line up changes eventually Jay and Matt joined the band . In 2014 we started performing live and released our first E . P . ‘ Reach ’. Fast forward to 2017 we released our second E . P . ‘ No Escape ’ last year , were booking shows around the country this year and continuing to write new material .
How would you describe your sound in just 3 words ? Heavy , Melodic , Catchy .
What has been your biggest highlight as a band so far ? Our E . P . release show last year at the Flapper & Firkin for our second EP , ‘ No Escape ’ The lineup consisted of The Face of Ruin , Black Asteroids and Genesis Arch who are all great bands and friends of ours , the place was packed it was mental .
Looking back at every song you ’ ve ever written as a band , which is your favourite to play and why ? ‘ Eat me Alive ’ because it was the first song that we wrote from scratch collectively as a band rather than one person bringing finished material for everyone to learn .
If you could play at any festival in the world , where would you pick ? To play any festival would be great but Download would be amazing because most of us have been several times .
Who are your biggest musical influences ? That ’ s a hard one really as we all have such different and eclectic tastes , for example Matt ’ s a big thrash metal fan and Nick loves pop-punk , how we ever agree on anything is a miracle .
If you could form a ‘ super group ’ with any other band , who would you pick ? That ’ s another hard one but if we did it on a local level probably Occeour , there a female fronted rock band from Birmingham their killer and good friends of ours .
What would be your ideal tour line-up ? We ’ d probably all give you different answers as we all have our own favourite bands , but realistically it would have to be someone who is in a similar vein to us so maybe Killswitch Engage as their very melodic as well as heavy or Flyleaf as they have the aggressive female vocal style like we do .
What can we expect to see and hear from you in the future ? Lots of gigs were currently booking ourselves up for the rest of the year , were hoping to tour towards the end of the year or early next year and you can definitely expect some new material from us in the near future .
