His music is a mix of electronic / pop with a strong 80 ’ s influence . Introduce yourself ! Who are you and where did it all begin ? I ’ m Max Cowley a singer / songwriter electronic pop artist from the Isle of Wight . Music all began for me about 8 years ago when I learned tubular bells by Mike Oldfield on the Piano , from here I never looked back from music and it continues to be my drive today !
How would you describe your sound in just 3 words ? Driven , dedicated , reliable
What has been your biggest highlight as a solo artist so far ? For me it ’ s been between two moments . One has to be Performing at the IOW Festival , because it was just fantastic . The second is releasing my charity single A Better Man for Crohns and Colitis UK because the song means a lot to me and is all about one of my best friends who has dealt with a lot in his life . The fact releasing a song like that both raises awareness of the illnesses of Crohns and Colitis and makes money for the cause is amazing !
Looking back at every song you ’ ve ever written as a artist , which is your favourite to play and why ? Currently my favourite is my opening track to my set , Wake Up . It bursts into life suddenly from a slow intro and is so fun to perform too !
I f you could play at any festival in the world , where would you pick ? Glastonbury , with Reading just behind .
Who are your biggest musical influences ? To be honest musically I try to take influence from as many different musicians as possible , but the 80s electronic pop era is probably where I look to influence the most . Artists like Soft Cell and Depeche Mode and Duran Duran . Of recent years White Lies are a big influence on me too !
If you could form a ‘ super group ’ with any other band , who would you pick ? That ’ s a tough one ! I would have to say if I ’ m picking my favourite current band it would have to be Foals . But if it ’ s to do with my musical influences probably White Lies
What would be your ideal tour line-up ? Depeche Mode , Duran Duran , White Lies and me
What can we expect to see and hear from you in the future ? Plenty of new singles , plenty of gigs and a lot of energetic performances !
