Opening up with ‘ Painkillers ’ from the album of the same name Brian Fallon & The Crowes sound magnificent right off the bat . ‘ Amongst Other Foolish Things ’ follows and this leads into Brian turning the gig into stand up comedy and story time . He goes on and on for literally about 10 minutes with no music , however this is the happiest and most engaging this reviewer has ever seen Brian after years of Gaslight shows . A rendition of The Proclaimers - 500 Miles is aired as well as Dire Straits - Romeo & Juliet , a nod to one of his favourites … and one of the most annoying songs ever committed to tape .
Goosebumps and pinch yourself moments come in the form of ‘ Steve McQueen ’ &’ Honey Magnolia ,’ when Brian goes solo . He reminds us of the delicacy of his voice and the tenderness at which he delivers his storyteller lyrics . After more breaks in-between songs so Brian can tell us how much he hates Thanksgiving its down to ‘ It ’ s A Wonderful Life ’ to close out tonight and we can ’ t think of a more fitting end .
