Be AK Couture

How have you overcome these challenges?

This is tough question. I’m still working on it. In Russia I never faced these kinds of problems. No matter how strange that sounds, back in Russia I was able to work as a designer and have clothing made based on my sketches alone. But I think now it’s become the same as everywhere else—everyone needs money and connections.

What do you attribute your success to?

I always thought that my success can be attributed to my mother. I wouldn’t be where I am now without her support.

What do you love most about what you do?

Everything. I have a chance to be creative. I get to do something new all the time. And when people like what I make and wear it proudly, then makes me even happier. I think success is when more than just you get to enjoy what you do.

Where do you see your business/line in 5 years?

I hope to have my own company, my own brand, and focus strictly on the creative parts of my business.

How do you elevate the game (in other words, what sets you apart from others that will make you a success?)

I have my style. I think every designer can create whatever in fashion in any particular season. But not everyone has their own unique style to be recognized by. I believe I achieved that when I hear people saying, “It’s totally yours!”
