ELEGANT WEDDING TORONTO WINTER / SPRING 2016 Volume 2 | Página 45

The Bride Says... “The most important thing to remember when planning is to hire the best photographer and videographer you know. This is the one thing that you should make extra room for in your budget. Pictures and videos last a lifetime and will capture moments that you may not have even seen that day.” HOW THEY MET Jaclyn and Roberto met six years ago while playing on the same coed soccer team. When they shared their first date, Roberto gave Jaclyn a single red rose and took her to a restaurant where just the two of them were entertained by a live jazz band. The catch: it was completely unplanned. THE CEREMONY Being that Jaclyn is half of the mother-daughter duo at Whyte Couture (a Toronto bridal boutique), three intricate custom-made gowns were designed for her big day. After just one week of being engaged, Jaclyn sketched out a design for her first gown. When the search for lace began, she came to a crossroads, falling in love with three unique laces: one, a fine Victorian Alencon lace with large medallion borders embroidered on a fine silk tulle from Spain; the other, a modern floral cotton lace from France; and the last, a delicate bobbin lace also from Spain. Instead of being forced to choose one, Jaclyn made the decision to incorporate all three into her gown. Countless hours were spent cutting up all the laces – piece by piece, flower by flower – and then over 200 hours were spent re-stitching them onto 18 metres of fine Italian silk organza. With the help of her mother, Francesca, Jaclyn’s first one-of-a-kind gown came to life.
