The Reception | As guests made their way past a warm fire lit in the foyer of the
reception hall, a live violinist greeted them for cocktail hour. Among other delicacies, an
oyster bar and signature drink were on the menu. Soothing saxophone music played during
dinner; Raquel and Steven shared their first dance to Florence and the Machine’s “Stand
by Me”; and a bongo player provided upbeat entertainment on the dance floor. One of the
most emotional moments of the night for Raquel was the father-daughter dance.
The Decor | The vision for Raquel and Steven’s theme was an enchanted winter palace
with a palette of white, grey and silver. To give the effect of ice were silver chargers
and mirror table numbers. At each of the tables, large crystal candelabra were topped
with lush white flowers and hints of greenery as well as white Louis XVI chairs from
Detailz Couture Event Rentals. The head table—framed by two orchid arrangements
cascading with votive candles—was made perfect with a white love seat and romantic
display of the five-tier cake made with silver filigree detailing. In lieu of favours, guests
made donations to cancer research in memory of Steven’s mother.
