The Ceremony | To honour the groom’s heritage, Brittany and
Filip had a traditional Serbian Orthodox ceremony. Brittany was
hesitant about wearing the crowns (hoping it wouldn’t ruin her hair), but it
turned out to be one of her favourite parts—her hair stayed perfectly in tact.
Brittany’s bouquet featured her favourite flower, orchids, which cascaded into
a luxe teardrop shape. The best part: the orchid throats were hand-painted
with copper to tie into the overall theme. Two large floral arrangements with
cascading orchids and grey roses sat on either side of the cross, as a glimpse into
what was to come at the reception.
The Reception & Decor | Following Brittany’s vision, the reception
planned by Swoon Weddings & Events featured a mixed metal colour scheme
using gold, copper and champagne for an elegant meets modern atmosphere.
Champagne starburst charger plates, napkins and beautiful favours by
Succulent Chocolates were placed at each place setting. Centrepieces were a
mix of high and low florals to create visual interest, and hundreds of candles
were used to create warmth. Tall centrepieces consisted of white flowers, grey
and champagne roses and cascading orchids on a gold stand, meanwhile the low
gathered in a copper vase. Dark pewter linens grounded the modern theme, along
with Art Deco linens along specialty tables. The cherry on top of it all was the
five-tier wedding cake featuring strokes of gold, silver and copper.
