TRAINING
NUMBER OF UK KNX
INTEGRATORS SET TO SOAR
Ivory Egg has announced the launch of its brand
new KNX courses: ‘3-Day Technician’ and ‘2Day Partner’, replacing the standard KNX Basic
Certification course.
Splitting the courses enables the KNX industry
to grow quicker; ensuring integrators have the
core skills to complete a project after qualifying as
a KNX Technician in just three days.
The new KNX Association approved courses
offer integrators the flexibility to complete the
training in two stages with minimal impact on
business schedules.
The 3-Day Technician course will deliver the
core essentials on lighting, heating and blind
control, equipping integrators with the skills
required to specify, design, commission and
support a KNX installation.
Once a certified KNX Technician, integrators
can complete the 2-Day Partner course to achieve
internationally recognised KNX Partner status.
This in-depth course delivers the vital theory as
issued by the KNX Association.
Both courses are CEDIA CEU accredited
with nine CEUs for the 3-Day Technician
course and six CEUs for completing the 2-Day
Partner course.
‘Over eight years’ experience delivering the
standard KNX Certification course has enabled us
to identify a better way to give integrators the best
possible start with KNX,’ said Mark Warburton,
technical director.
2016-17 SERIES OF TECHTALK DATES ANNOUNCED
Industry legend Tony Cable will be making his final, farewell tour around the
country during the next series of NICEIC and ELECSA’s TechTalk series.
After almost 60 years in the industry, Tony will be taking part in his last TechTalk
series before taking up his well earned retirement. It promises to be an emotional
ride for the 74 year old whose experience and unique delivery style has helped
make the informative seminars increasingly popular among contractors.
‘The TechTalk series is something very close to my heart and something I have
enjoyed immensely over the last nine years,’ commented Tony.
‘We have done more than 80 events across the UK during that time and every
single one has been a pleasure. Meeting contractors and chatting to them about
all the latest goings on in the industry is what I enjoy most.’
As ever, Tony will be joined by NICEIC and ELECSA’s technical development manager, Darren Staniforth, for the next
series. They will be discussing the most common problems during assessments, current legislation within the industry,
electrical supply issues and providing responses during a technical Q&A session.
ANOTHER YEAR OF SUCCESS FOR TOOLBOX TALKS AS RECORD
NUMBERS SHARPEN THEIR TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
Record attendances and superlative feedback have marked another successful year for SELECT’s Toolbox Talks – the practical
and popular events for disseminating the latest technological information to the widest possible number of trade professionals.
Nearly 500 delegates attended 13 sessions across the length and breadth of Scotland. Typically, attendees were directors
and managers, or company owners, but many also brought employees and apprentices.
The events were particularly appreciated in the Western Isles, Orkney and
Shetland – areas which because of their location do not receive frequent attention
on national tours of this nature.
Alan Wilson, SELECT’s head of communications and members services, said,
‘Once again our series of Toolbox Talks have been a hit with SELECT members and
we have been delighted at the positive feedback and the readiness to keep up to
speed with technical issues.
‘All of the attendees were giving up valuable time to attend the talks, and I think it
illustrates their commitment to ensuring that the industry stays ahead of the game and
continues to provide the best possible levels of quality, delivery and safety for clients.’
