A number of new products were debuted at the show .
The B . E . G . PureColour Wellness Sensor is ideal for applications in healthcare , offices , education and industry .
Dimplex was demonstrating its Quantum System at its stand , the company ’ s low-cost , low-energy electric heating system . The Quantum is designed to intelligently adapt to match climatic conditions , delivering heat only when it is needed .
Dimplex was also focusing on Lot 20 compliance , urging attendees to make sure they are ready for the legislation . From January 2018 , all local space heaters manufactured for sale in the EU will have to comply with a minimum efficiency standard under Lot 20 of the Energy Efficiency Directive . Dimplex showcased the work that has been done ensuring that it entire range is compliant before Lot 20 comes into force .
Thermarestor was discussing fire safety at its stand , identifying the need for prevention of electrical fires caused by wiring faults and overloads .
The brand was showcasing its innovative way of preventing electrical fires within consumer units . The Thermarestor range monitors heat generated at electrical connection points . If an abnormal temperature is detected , Thermarestor can be used to provide an early warning system .
Looking to the future
Klauke highlighted its Next Generation battery crimping and cutting tools . Ergonomics of the range have been enhanced by including soft grips and better balance . There are more powerful batteries , up to 5.0Ah , for longer working between recharge , and the construction has been made more robust and weather resistant for reliable , trouble free operation – ready for hard use in tough environments .
An innovative LED display allows pressures , battery life and user profiles to be directly read from the tool . Data transfer for QA certification is now more easily achieved via the new Klauke App , linking any smartphone or tablet using Bluetooth , meaning this data can be recorded in the field easily and conveniently .
Klauke also demonstrated its Next Generation compact basket tray cutter ( 6mm steel rod ), cutting steel armoured power cables in Cu and Al up to 105mm diameter . Crimping tools range from 6mm 2 up to 630mm . Used with the complementing Klauke cable lugs , these new solutions are designed to give peace of mind and secure certified electrical connections .
AICO brought along one of its Mobile Training and Demo Units to give delegates a closer look at the portable training facility .
The mobile units can be driven to sites to deliver training to contractors , which is free and CDP accredited . The training can be tailored to suit individual needs , and offers a wide range of skills , from the latest standards and regulations to practical tips and training . The units also offer customers a chance to get a hands-on look at AICO products .
HellermannTyton was sharing information about its ACADAMY , a facility that offers on-site training both for its own staff and its clients . The ACADAMY provides hands-on demos with products , as well as market knowledge , e-business training , production and quality topics and more . The facility is also aimed at encouraging an exchange of knowledge within the industry . As well as a number of innovative products that Schneider Electric was demonstrating ,
The expo was a platform for industry players to network , exchange knowledge and discuss best practice .
the company took the time to highlight its Electrician Partner Programme , mySchneider Electrician . Free and available to all electricians , mySchneider offers everything an electricians needs all in one place . Through the portal , members can apply to join Schneider ’ s Electrician Partner Programme , a free scheme supporting the smaller electrical contractor working primarily in the residential and light commercial sectors .
Hylec was showcasing its new Debox junction box , designed to maximise efficiency at every stage of installation . Each junction box is supplied as standard with a four-pole terminal block which is secured on a push-fit mounting pole . This means that the installer has everything he needs immediately to hand , and there is no chance of items being dropped or mislaid .
A ratchet arm is used to secure the cable within the junction box , which allows it to accommodate both flat and round cable whilst still producing secure cable retention . A fixing pin is used in place of a screw , clipping the lid in place quickly and efficiently .
A two mounting ears are included which allow the Debox to be securely fastened in place , relieving tension from the cables .
P5 Automation had its full range of FutureNow DIN rail control modules on display . The modules cover all control needs in residential , commercial and industrial applications and can be directly connected to the local ethernet network . All the modules have a built-in web interface for configuration and control . The freely available mobile apps come in handy for those who want to control their homes from their phones and create their own groups and scenes but don ’ t want to bother with complex control systems .
Thanks to the software drivers developed for most automation controllers , Control4 , RTI , AMX , Crestron , Extron , Savant integrators can also use FutureNow modules .
All the modules have an input for each output that directly controls the output , making the modules fail-safe even if the network gets down . Alternatively , the inputs can also be used as separate digital inputs .
