ED&I EXPO GreenBrook used the show as an opportunity to relaunch itself to the industry and exhibit its full range. Often closely associated with PowerBreaker RCDs and Timers, the company wanted to raise awareness of its lighting products, and the fact that it works closely with the LIA and BEAMA. Two of GreenBrook’s lighting products on display for a hands- on look were the Vela Advance LED downlight range. Raising awareness of its brand, Chint UK discussed how winning a tender with British Gas two years ago secured its place as an established name in the UK industry. The company has now been launched on Screwfix, introducing Chint to even more customers, and strengthening its reputation with old customers. PremSpec was putting its best foot forward, exhibiting its key product lines. Delegates had the chance to get an up- close look at the brand’s VERSO and STYLE ranges, as well as discovering more about PremSpec’s other lines. VERSO is new to the PremSpec portfolio, a modular wiring accessories range that offers both modern design and a slim profile. The range features properties, such as ASTA Intertek certification and anti-microbial properties, as standard. The STYLE line is PremSpec’s extensive range of wiring accessories, all offering a lifetime guarantee, and has a full range of euro modular grid for easy customisation. On the Marshall Tufflex stand, sharp- shooter Ian Dando hit the bullseye when he beat world-class British darts player Mark Dudbridge in a 501/301 competition hosted by the company. Earlier in the year, the cable management manufacturer announced its sponsorship of Mark and the opportunity for visitors to ED&I to play against him; New ideas abound Mark was tasked with scoring 501 and all- comer opponents 301. Many stepped up to take the challenge but Ian Dando, of Dando Testing in Southampton, was the only competitor to beat Mark, winning a Virgin Experience Day. “Our darts challenge proved really popular with visitors to the exhibition and was great fun,” said Marshall-Tufflex UK sales director Jon Chamberlain. “Mark is a terrific player and many people were keen to step up to the oche and take him on but only Ian proved to have the skill on the day to beat him in our challenge.” Marshall-Tufflex also used the event to talk about product launches, including its new Wire Basket with Cablelay, the underfloor-to-desk range and, its special edition 75th anniversary catalogue and a full range of PVC-U, steel and aluminium trunking solutions. British darts player Mark Dudbridge was up for a challenge on the Marshall Tufflex stand. Western Automation launched its Socket RCD (2G and weatherproof IP66) with self-test and end of life feature. The device tests itself every two seconds, and visitors to the stand were eager to get to know the company’s newest release. Meanwhile, there was a keen interest in earth leakage at the Megger stand, with visitors’ attention drawn to the newly launched DCM305E digital clampmeter. With a measurement resolution of 0.001 mA on its lowest range, combined with the capability of measuring currents up to 100 A on its highest range, the new Megger DCM305E can be used for RCD and RCBO nuisance tripping problems, as well as general AC current measurement. The DCM305E has been designed to be easy to use and provide accurate results even in difficult conditions. It offers true RMS (TRMS) measurement, and has a built-in low-pass filter that greatly improves the stability of results on circuits where high levels of harmonics or electrical noise are present. Lighting controls specialist B.E.G. showcased a world-first lighting control product which improves well-being and productivity. The new PureColour Wellness Sensor automatically adjusts the light intensity and light colour according to the amount of natural light in a room with simple adjustability. The B.E.G. PureColour Wellness Sensor works by adjusting the colour temperature over a 24-hour period from warm white to daylight white and the illumination intensity from 500 to 1500 lux. This supports the effects of natural daylight and stabilises the biological rhythm, which regulates mood and stress levels, and can boost energy and productivity. Exhibitors at the ED&I Expo demonstrated the diversity and versatility being offered within the industry today. October 2017 | 33
